Some people like FND games. They are generally kinder, gentler Roguelikes.

I like FND but even I'm dejected by this. Does every DQ spinoff have to depart from the original gameplay? I thought that SE wanted to, y'know, try and make DQ popular over here.

Oh well. when I first saw the art from it I figured it was going to be another Monsters game at least. instead, bittersweet surprise.

You know!

It' not developed by Chun Soft -- it's by Armor Project. Chances are the fushigi no dungeon subtitle is on there, primarily, just for name recognition purposes.

Either way, Yangus is a simple guy, and I'm guessing his youth is a simple story. His introduction to world-saving stardom comes when he's old enough to have chest hair while attempting to rob travelers crossing a bridge; he probably comes from a background that more closely resembles "attack the dungeon, kill the monster, get the money, and run out screaming" than, say, the opera house in Final Fantasy VI.

Furthermore, you know, the "FND" style of play could be done well. It would end up feeling like a perfect blend of RPG and hot sports franchise. Maybe!

Or maybe I'm just making all this up, who knows!!

Yangus is the new Torneko, anyway, and I'll vote for him for president no matter how many hookers he kills.
